Heartlands Hayride Saturday February 25, 2012 WDVR's premier live radio barn dance show
Louie Setzer & The Appalachian Mountain Boys return after several months! Louie, dubbed the Duke of Bluegrass, is a Premier Bluegrass Vocalist, who has been performing Traditional Bluegrass Music for well over 30 years. The Appalachian Mt. Boys sound can best be described as " Hard Driving Honky Tonk", that has fuzzed the gap between Traditional Bluegrass & Country music with a sound all their own. Louie Setzer is the primary founder and first President of the Appalachian Fiddle and Bluegrass Assn. (AFBA), the Northeast's largest and most active Bluegrass support group, a haven for fans and musicians of "America's Music." The Hayride jumps tonight !!!
Bill Turner This master guitarist and singer, once a Bill Haley's Comet "seen and heard round the world", loves the Hayride and is sure to keep the joint jumpin'. Perennial star of the Jersey Shore glitz-and-glamour and the North Jersey hot-spots, Bill considers the Hayride his second (and preferred) home. Turner, a former lead guitarist with Bill Haley & His Comets during the 70'3, derives his inspiration from traditional country and rockabilly.
Chris Val, veteran old-school country star, says he can't stay away. Chris has performed with Tex Ritter, Ernest Tubb and many others. This fondly remembered veteran of Trenton radio, has recorded for Starday and many other labels, and continues to thrill crowds throughout Delaware Valley.
Beth Coleman is the singer, song writer, producer, who is most responsible for the success of the Hayride in its early years. Beth carries Bluegrass to a new level of intensity and is renowned for the traditional sound in America's Music. Up from Virginia, she also entertains with a strong, classic-country presentation.
AL Kessel, our newest member of the hayloft gang, is a master musician, an accomplished country singer and a talented writer. He's sure to please.
Ben Lawson, master of the pedal steel, always evokes a chuckle and contributes some great musical accompaniment.
Chuck Pierman's homespun humor and lyrical comedy provide a welcome respite to the mix as he takes a break from his Delaware Township truck patch.
Bill Brandon, our masterful band leader and organizer, reflects star-shine on the barn dance floor as he fronts the Hayride band: Al Kessel, Tom Mintz, Ben Lawson, Jim Thompson. provide professional accompaniment for our stellar cast. These boys rival Nashville's finest.
